Schaefer Guitars #23 Dreadnought Acoustic - Hand Crafted in Canada

This beautiful instrument is the 23rd guitar built by David Schaefer in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was built in October of 2019, but hadn't been listed for sale until now (October 2021). We are selling this guitar as a consignment for Schaefer Guitars directly, so it is a brand new guitar.

The guitar sounds absolutely incredible with a lot of volume, a very full and punchy bass end, a subtle yet warm midrange, and a crisp yet pleasant treble response. The lower mids have a nice growl to them when played hard which adds some character to the tone and makes the guitar feel very lively. The sustain is quite good with lots of ongoing resonance and upper range harmonic content that adds to the guitars smooth and interesting character.

Considering that it's a hand crafted instrument, it is extremely refined with only a few minor areas where it's evident that it was not made by a machine. This is mostly in some file scratches in the fretboard along the sides of the frets. These are quite minor in comparison to most hand crafted guitars I have played, the overall seamlessness of the guitar is impressive.

Beyond the extreme care and level of craftsmanship evident in the guitar, the woods parts and hardware used on the instrument are excellent. The AAA Sitka spruce top combined with the Indian Laurel back & sides is a big part of what makes this guitar sing like it does, while the Gotoh tuners, dual action truss rod and bone nut & saddle offer a great setup and stable tuning. The guitar features a ladder bracing pattern that also helps with the guitars open sound helping the upper bout of the guitar resonate more of the sound from the bridge.
